Linda Zimmerman, M.A., L.P.C.C.
Linda is the Executive Director and founder of Sandhill Center. With over 40 years of experience in working with children and families, Ms. Zimmerman has been responsible for creating therapeutic environments to address attachment and trauma. Linda is regarded by some as a pioneer within the state of New Mexico not only for her current work in the clinical application of key principles of neurodevelopment, but also in the early 1990’s for introducing a treatment model focused on problematic childhood attachments and the formation of basic trust. In 1996, Linda was named the City of Albuquerque’s “Woman on the Move” for her groundbreaking work in the field of children’s mental health treatment.
Kurt A. Wulfekuhler, Ph.D., L.P.C.C.
Kurt is the Clinical Director at Sandhill Center. Dr. Wulfekuhler has over 40 years of experience working in residential treatment, treatment foster care, inpatient psychiatric hospital programs, outpatient, and partial hospital programs. He has a long-term interest in the clinical implications of attachment theory and is a Certified Sensorimotor Psychotherapist (developed by Pat Ogden). Dr. Wulfekuhler has been particularly instrumental in integrating Sensorimotor Psychotherapy along with the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics to provide a developmentally and trauma informed treatment approach throughout the therapeutic milieu at Sandhill.
Matthew MacQueen, M.Ed.
Matthew is the Principal at Sandhill Center. A lifelong New Mexican, Matthew grew up in Taos, New Mexico which directly contributed to his love of skiing and chili. He graduated with a BA in Media Arts from the University of New Mexico in 2001 and spent several years working in the film industry on various movie projects. In 2002, Matthew began working in residential treatment and quickly took to sharing his passions for sports, art, cooking and the outdoors with incredible individuals as a means for growth and skill building. In 2004 he joined the Sandhill Child Development Center team as a youth mentor. In 2008 Matthew completed a Master’s degree in Multicultural Special Education from The College of Santa Fe, and has since worn many different hats with the Sandhill and Del Rio Academy as Milieu Team Leader, Teacher, Program Director, Principal, and pool boy. He loves working at Del Rio Academy and Sandhill, and being surrounded by brave people who are committed to learning and helping children. In his free time, Matthew can be found skiing, hiking, running, biking, walking his dogs all over the high desert, and exploring the globe with his wife, family and friends.
