James "JT" Jenkins is a dedicated Special Education Science and Social Studies teacher with nearly six years of service at Del Rio Academy. He holds a B.S. in Special Education with an endorsement in Science from the University of New Mexico. JT is licensed in both Special Education (K-12) and General Education Science (K-8), and he is passionate about creating engaging and accessible learning experiences for all students.

JT's teaching experience spans both public and private schools in Albuquerque, as well as involvement in the education program at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History. These diverse roles have deepened his interest in educational psychology and his commitment to working closely with students with special needs. He is dedicated to employing project-based learning and hands-on, experiential teaching methods to make science and social studies both exciting and accessible.

Outside the classroom, JT stays active by playing ultimate frisbee and volleyball. He also enjoys discovering new and unique board games, reading science fiction, and spending time cooking and baking.
