Meet Linda Zimmerman, M.A., LPCC

Founder, Executive Director

Linda Zimmerman is the founder of Sandhill Center, bringing over 40 years of experience working with children and families. She is recognized for her ability to create therapeutic environments that effectively address attachment, trauma, and neurodevelopmental challenges. As a pioneer in New Mexico, Linda has made significant contributions to the clinical application of neurodevelopment principles and, in the 1990s, introduced a treatment model focused on addressing problematic childhood attachments and fostering basic trust.

Active in the daily life of Sandhill, Linda believes it is essential for someone in her position to engage directly in the treatment and care of the children. She enjoys participating in trail rides, community activities, and everyday interactions with the kids.

In 1996, Linda was honored as the City of Albuquerque’s “Woman on the Move” for her groundbreaking work in children’s mental health. In her free time, she loves hiking with her four rescue dogs, going on long bike rides, gardening, and enjoying trail rides on her horse, Sonora.
